How To Build Your Network As A Music Journalist
The value of finding community in a world of music lovers
I love my music journalist friends. They come from every walk of life imaginable and have contributed significantly to my development as a writer and person. Through my conversations with them, I’ve learned a great deal about various music genres and historical periods. It’s made me a more well-rounded writer and music listener.
On my podcast, If Ever You’re Listening, I’ve interviewed a couple of music journalists as well. Some of the more recent ones have a regional specialization and do a wonderful job at shedding light on musical corners of the world that are largely in the shadows to Western readers. Their backgrounds are impressive, their work is inspiring, and truthfully, they’re really fun people to talk to and learn from.
