While it is easier than ever to release music in 2025, it is also harder than ever to gain traction. New ears and eyes for your music and music videos are spread across so many platforms that it’s frustrating to know where to start and how to keep supporters returning for your next release.

Even when you capture fans’ attention, getting paid fairly for their streams of your music on several streaming platforms is tough. The platforms simply don’t work for musicians, large and small, but especially small.

The saving grace is touring, at least for now, but more importantly, it’s about consistently finding and keeping new audiences.

So how does a young musician early in their career find these new audiences? In today’s piece, I’ll unpack five pieces of advice to help early-stage musicians find new audiences in 2025. For each tip, I will provide contemporary examples.
